So Levi started his foray into summer camp this week with day camp at Camp Geneva. He was very excited. Lots of nervous, loud energy yesterday morning. A little bit of trouble sleeping the night before...but hey, handing a sleep deprived, hopped-up seven-year-old over to energetic college students sounds straight-up wisdom now that I think about it.
My first indication that Geneva is a little ritzy: spotless conference center where we were introduced to the counselors. No log building, no musty camp smell. Hmmmmm.....
Fancy-pants playground, splash pad, perfectly manicured landscaping...hmmmm...
But what's not to love about being right on Lake Michigan?? Levi had a fantastic first day and loved every minute. He had fun, learned about God, saw some friends and made a new one...so goal achieved for day 1. :) Geneva is a win.
(But we've decided that next year he's going to go to Sonlight Christian Camp. Mountains, log cabins, adirondack chairs, hammocks, and warm homemade cookies is what I have in mind!)
Luke, on the other hand, had been fist-pumping for days in anticipation of having me all to himself, with visions of unbridled attention and unfettered playtime with me from 9am to 5pm. My bet was on him arriving at the opposite conclusion by Tuesday afternoon. *scoreboard buzzer* - Nope - around 11am on Monday he grumbled that there was nuffing to DO. He was in the van waiting to pick up Levi about a half hour before we actually needed to go.
Today was a little more of what Luke had in mind. Donuts and puzzles and games at the coffee shop, some playtime at the toy store, and a trip to the zoo.
(He bought himself yet another form of stuffed red panda)
He was a little down because it's not the same experience without your best playmate at the zoo, when your favorite activities are romping around the play areas. Not quite the same when you're by yourself! So when he asked for a camel ride, it was impossible to say no.
The otters are one of our favorite exhibits.
So that's a wrap on the past couple of days. I can't complain about a little one-on-one time with my littlest buddy.
